SOUTH PAPUA – The grounds of SDN Kigorun in Ulilin District, Merauke Regency, were bustling with energy on Wednesday (11/26) morning, as dozens of students joined a tree planting drive initiated by PT Berkat Cipta Abadi (BCA).
This program reflects the company’s focus on educating the younger generation on the importance of environmental conservation. Involving students, teachers, and the PT BCA team, the activity aimed to introduce nature preservation concepts firsthand through practical planting.
Participants enthusiastically dug holes, planted seedlings, and watered the new plants. The drive also included a school cleanup session, an effort to instill habits of cleanliness from an early age.
“We believe environmental awareness must be instilled early on. Children are the next generation who will directly feel the impact of what we do today. By involving them in tree planting, we hope the values of loving nature take strong root in them,” said Andri Setiawan, a representative of PT BCA’s ISPO team.

The school welcomed the program, noting it provided an educative and fun outdoor learning experience for the students.
“Activities like this mean a lot to us. Theories about loving the environment become real when children hold the seedlings, dig the soil, and care for the plants themselves. Their spirit is amazing, and we hope this collaboration continues,” said Herman Sagur, a teacher representative at SDN Kigorun.
Through this greening drive, PT BCA is not only contributing to nature conservation but also helping cultivate a character of care and responsibility toward the environment among the youth.
The company hopes this program serves as a small step with a big impact on future ecosystem sustainability. The spirit planted today is expected to grow into a long-term commitment to protecting nature, ensuring benefits are felt not just by the current generation, but by those to come. (PR)
