SOUTH PAPUA – Members of PT Dongin Prabhawa (DP)’s clinic hosted a health outreach event titled “Developing the Social Environment of Papuan Communities” Saturday (11/1) at Banamepe Subvillage, Mappi Regency, South Papua. This event featured a tooth-brushing demonstration to educate younger villagers on good hygiene and healthy living.

Proper and regular tooth-brushing prevents diseases by stopping oral bacterial growth. It’s therefore a key part of the state-promoted “clean and healthy lifestyle” (PHBS), and a measure of personal hygiene.

“We want to build good habits early on with the demo and hope to lower child dental and oral cases in Banamepe,” Clinic member dr. Achmad Affendick explained to the PR team.

The event’s highlight was the young audience themselves as they tried to follow tooth-brushing instructions. Dozens of people attended the session designed to deliver hygiene lessons through fun, easy ways.

Free health check-ups were also provided to the general community, enabling early detection of illnesses and medical guidance.

At various times, Dongin Prabhawa representatives would mention wildlife conservation, the need to safeguard Papua’s endemic, protected creatures and local tropical forests as part of its environmental campaign.

Residents were encouraged in a dialogue to get involved in efforts to prevent illegal hunting and habitat destruction.

To this, Banamepe Subvillage committee member Adam Yame said, “I’d like to see events like this held annually. Health education would really benefit our community going forward and we can build a good relationship with the company through these events.”

PT Dongin Prabhawa and its mother company Tunas Sawa Erma (TSE) Group uphold a commitment to delivering lasting, positive impact on the communities they serve through Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) programs. (PR)
