BOVEN DIGOEL – Tunas Sawa Erma (TSE) Group showed support for Indonesia’s 2030 zero-malaria target by screening its employees and members of its immediate communities, including local students and teachers.
From July 13 to July 26, 2026, the company clinic tested 2,200 people in Jair District, Boven Digoel Regency. Twelve of the participants came back positive.
These results were immediately followed up with medical intervention to ensure symptoms did not escalate.
“We’re grateful that participants [already] have this awareness to check for the disease,” said Hamza, who’s responsible for the screening session on Sunday (7/26/2026). “This part is crucial because early [detection] and treatment prevent serious complications and break the chain of transmission.”

Screening events are part of TSE Group’s commitment to improving public health where it operates. Initial testing — particularly for malaria — is important to stopping the spread in high-risk regions.
Papua, where TSE Group is based, holds one of the highest rates of endemic malaria in Indonesia (Ministry of Health). While the country has eradicated the disease in 79% of its regencies/cities (around 476 of 514 municipalities), this figure leaves out most of Papua. Over 93% of the cases nationwide remain concentrated here, a region rife with complex geographical, social, and accessibility issues.
TSE Group’s initiative is expected to not only curb infection, but also raise public awareness on the need for early identification, regular check-ups, and prompt treatment once symptoms are detected. (PR)
