Symbolic handover of honorarium assistance and scholarship from TSE for teachers of Miri State Elementary School and children of hamlet chiefs in Boven Digoel, Papua, on Saturday (18/12)

BOVEN DIGOEL – PT Tunas Sawa Erma (TSE) once again showed its concern for education in Papua. This commitment was conveyed through the provision of honorarium worth of Rp 7.2 million for four teachers at Miri State Elementary School, Boven Digoel, Papua, and a scholarship of Rp 22.5 million for 18 children of hamlet chiefs in Miri Village. The donations were handed over simultaneously on Saturday (18/12).

In addition to Miri Village, TSE also provided scholarship assistance to Ujungkia Village and Getentiri Village worth of approximately Rp 165 million. The assistance was provided for 350 children of hamlet chiefs. The scholarship provision was carried out by the company in stages, which is once every three months.

Director of TSE Bae Suntek mentioned that the handover of honorarium and scholarship is intended to increase the teaching motivation of teachers and the students’ enthusiasm to study. Especially during the pandemic, in which they have difficulty in teaching and gaining knowledge.

Bae conveyed a special message to the children beneficiaries to diligently seek knowledge for Papua’s and their own success. “Through this assistance, hopefully our younger generation can continue the spirit of learning to be successful and be able to develop the region,” he said.

To the educators, Bae also encouraged them to never get tired of sharing knowledge with the students. That is because a teacher is one of the main keys to creating a qualified young generation.

One of the teachers of Miri State Elementary School, Teda Gembenop, expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by TSE. “On behalf of the teachers of Miri State Elementary School, I thank TSE for providing honorarium assistance to us, which increased our enthusiasm in educating the children,” he said.

Deep appreciation was also conveyed by Ambrosius Yasi, a parent of the scholarship recipient who lives in Ujungkia Village. According to him, the social contribution that is being actively held by the company have provided a lot of positive impact for him and the surrounding community. “Since TSE came to be around the village, we often receive assistance in the form of scholarship, groceries, and many others,” he explained.

The teacher honorarium assistance and scholarship from TSE are part of the company’s Corporate Social Contribution (CSC). The assistance also stems from a concern to the improvement of public education, especially in the remote areas of Papua. (PPA Humas S&C)
