BOVEN DIGOEL – Aiwat Subvillage in Subur District, Boven Digoel, remains part of Papua’s water-scarce regions.
Locals have to travel far for cleaner, “potable” water — which wastes time and energy for everyone, especially women and children. Addressing this situation requires working with other stakeholders to make solutions more effective.
PT Berkat Cipta Abadi (BCA) has done this through its Corporate Social Contribution program, where the company established a water well and pump system in support of Aiwat’s clean water initiatives in late 2025.
This facility demonstrates BCA’s efforts to promote better well-being in nearby communities, and Aiwat village secretary Kaitanus Tinggin is grateful for that.
“We’d really like to thank BCA, [because] we used to travel into the jungle for hours just to get water, [and] now this well makes the access, and our lives, easier, especially in terms of [meeting our] drinking water [needs], cooking, and keeping us and our families clean,” said Tinggin on Monday (12/22).

Water well installation is part of TSE Group’s ongoing CSC initiative focused on providing basic needs, including access to education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and clean water for communities around palm oil plantations.
TSE Group’s General Manager, Daniel Sim Ayomi, said the company will continue building bonds with these communities.
“We believe our success is not separate from the good well-being of local people. This clean water initiative is just a small step in our journey of listening to and supporting the people with their needs.”
Adequate supply of safe water is central to healthy, productive, and sustainable communities. Ignoring this aspect threatens environmental hygiene, quality of health, and daily activities. (PR)
