Merauke, July 19, 2024 – Tunas Sawa Erma (TSE) Group was recently awarded by the South Papua Provincial Government for its commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSC) programs. Subsidiaries Berkat Cipta Abadi (BCA), Papua Agro Lestari (PAL), TSE A, and TSE B received the plaque on behalf of the corporation.
The award ceremony ran in Merauke alongside the launch of an integrated corporate social responsibility app, called the Si-CSR. South Papua’s interim governor Apolo Safanpo, South Papua Capital Investment & One Stop Service head Petrus Assem, South Papuan People’s Assembly leader, Papua’s People Assembly members, and a few regional apparatus organizations (OPD) were in attendance.
Through its plantation units, TSE Group has demonstrated a strong commitment to executing CSC programs in the fields of education, healthcare, economy, infrastructure, and environment. In recognition of its contribution to social and environmental development in South Papua, the company group was granted an award.
South Papua Capital Investment & One Stop Service head Petrus Assem shared how CSC awards are given to businesses that have fulfilled their CSC promise. “Berkat Cipta Abadi, Papua Agro Lestari, TSE A, and TSE B from Tunas Sawa Erma Group are some of the 278 firms in South Papua with proper implementation of CSC initiatives. With this [CSC] award, we hope to encourage other firms to take their social responsibility seriously,” Assem said.
In his speech, Governor Apolo Safanpo highlighted the importance of corporate involvement in social and environmental development in his region. “Companies are already running CSC programs, but these are often unheard of [by the general public]. This award is how we [the government] recognize and appreciate their work.”
Accompanying the award ceremony was the launch of Si-CSR, an application designed to improve transparency and efficiency in CSC operations. This platform enables businesses to report and disclose their CSR activities to the public. Safanpo hoped Si-CSR could be a credible source of information and enhance synergy between companies, people, and the state.
“Si-CSR allows citizens to obtain reliable information on CSC programs. This app also ensures that these programs are well-documented and can be publicly audited,” Safanpo added.
CSC Award is expected to inspire non-participating companies to start taking part in CSC programs and plasma farming. “It is our wish that this award motivates other firms to be more actively involved and make positive contributions to society and the environment,” Assem stated.
Through awards and Si-CSR, the South Papua government pledges to support and facilitate businesses as they take on their social responsibilities and ensure more sustainable development in South Papua.
