BOVEN DIGOEL – 2024 is a special year, as two religious holidays — Easter and Eid al-Fitr — fall on close dates. The former takes place on March 31, and the latter on April 10.

Yet, pre-Easter mood remains festive. Activities have popped up in local areas to enrich the celebration that symbolizes victory and hope for Christians.

Among these activities and traditions is sharing. This was what South Papuan-based palm oil company Tunas Sawa Erma (TSE) Group did recently — sharing dozens of staple food packages with local communities and churches in Miri, Tamun Tunas, and Asiki; three subvillages in Jair District, Boven Digoel Regency.

50 bags of 10-kg rice, 30 gallons of 5-liter cooking oil, 90 boxes of instant noodles, along with coffee and sugar packets were distributed to homes and church buildings on Thursday (3/21).

“We hope these donations can relieve the burden of preparing food for Easter,” said TSE Group representative Pratik Prihatin, who participated that day.

This aid program has a really positive impact on communities, said a beneficiary, Elias Mikan. For that, he was very appreciative and grateful for the company’s efforts.

It was part of Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) programs by TSE Group, an oil palm plantation company that commits to practicing sustainable palm oil governance and innovating to prioritize its responsibility in building the social environment around its sites. (PR)
