JAKARTA – At his visit to TSE Group Headquarters Monday (5/26), South Papua Governor Apolo Safanpo expressed his highest appreciation for the company’s role in South Papua’s growth.
Through a series of programs called Corporate Social Contribution (CSC), the palm oil corporation has brought a breath of fresh air to the province’s education and healthcare sector.
“Some time ago, we went to Asiki and met with the people there. There’s so much appreciation for TSE [Group]’s work: building schools, free education, free medical care, plasma farming, which is executed well. [We can see] they’re satisfied.” Safanpo said.
Investment climate is friendlier in South Papua than in any other place on the island. This is due to good and open communication with stakeholders, which the governor expects from TSE Group through deeper ties and expanded collaboration.

Commissioner Robert Seung thanked Safanpo and his officials for visiting. Not only would this strengthen their partnership, it would also highlight their shared dedication to regional development.
“We look forward to continuing our work with South Papuan authorities and communities to create a sustainable impact. Thank you for your [Safanpo] trust and support. We aim to maintain this partnership to achieve common goals and improve community well-being.”
TSE Group Director Luwy Leunufna had the opportunity to showcase some of the firm’s work plans, which include building in the region six CPO factories, a kernel crushing plant, a bio-CNG plant, and a biogas plant, slated for July launch.
“This morning, we will take you for a closer look at our operations, history in Asiki — before the town was as crowded — also our community work and plans.”
TSE Group’s environmental commitments include preserving the population of pig-nosed turtles and greater birds-of-paradise in Papua’s southern coast. Both species face extinction due to poaching for decorative or medicinal purposes.
This campaign is run in partnership with IPB University researchers, namely Prof. Mirza Kusrini and Prof. Ani Mardiastuti. Much of their work will be devoted to observing ecosystems, home ranges, and other useful indicators to prevent species death.
Later, a research vessel will be deployed to ramp up these efforts. Going by the name Papua Lestari, this boat will be integral to aquatic biota and pig-nosed turtle study in Papua. It is hoped to ease research work and improve data quality. (PR)
