JAKARTA – The South Papua government is committed to supporting further collaboration with TSE Group, said Governor Apolo Safanpo during his visit to TSE Group Headquarters on Monday (5/26) in Jakarta.

“We wish to maintain things as they are and perhaps expand our working relationship [with TSE Group].”

The province’s four regencies are rich in untapped natural resources, with Asmat boasting crops and carbon reserves and Merauke offering opportunities in agriculture and fisheries. Meanwhile, Boven Digoel and Mappi hold potential for rubber, palm oil, and mining production.

“With such a massive potential, investors tapping into fish or crop farming can expect a good return on investment. As the government, we will continue to provide the needed infrastructure: roads, ports, and equipment to serve agriculture, plantation, fisheries, and logistics needs,” Safanpo vowed.

Hosting the event was TSE Group Commissioner Robert Seung, who thanked the official and government for their trust and support. Not only would this visit strengthen their partnership, it would also highlight their shared dedication to regional development, Seung said.

“We look forward to continuing our work with South Papuan authorities and communities to create a sustainable impact. Thank you for your [Safanpo] trust and support. We aim to maintain this partnership to achieve common goals and improve community well-being.”

TSE Group Director Luwy Leunufna showed Safanpo some of the firm’s work plans in the region, including six CPO factories, a kernel crushing plant, a bio-CNG plant, and a biogas plant slated for July launch.

The company is also looking to build a bigger S-Mart — its retail chain — in Merauke, a transit hub for inter-regency travel. Unlike other S-Mart outlets, this store is on the high-end side, with a co-working space and other premium facilities.

“We’re hoping for synergy and collaboration with the local government. We will make sure to make a positive, sustainable, and inclusive contribution to society,” Leunufna wrapped up his speech. (PR)
