Boys and girls alike received financial aid from PT Berkat Cipta Abadi
SOUTH PAPUA – Concerned with Papua’s educational scene, Boven Digoel’s PT Tunas Sawa Erma (PT TSE) and Merauke’s PT Berkat Cipta Abadi (PT BCA) distributed grants to the kids of local hamlet chiefs, particularly those entering their ‘even’ semester (similar to spring semester in college, or second academic semester in primary/secondary schools).
This time, PT Tunas Sawa Erma released 52,200,000 IDR. All were given to 43 students from elementary to university levels in a ceremony at PT TSE’s general meeting room, Saturday (19/11).
According to PT Tunas Sawa Erma’s General Manager Stanislaus Wasa, these scholarships were part of the company’s Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) program, which aimed to build Papua’s social environment. “I hope they can give you all the boost to achieve your dreams and build the homeland,” he said.
Such aid was warmly received by locals, especially the hamlet chiefs, who still have to pay for their children’s education.
“It certainly takes some of the load off our backs and motivates the kids. Hopefully they can get a good job with this,” said Harun Kawab, representing five clans that live near PT TSE’s area.

On a separate event, PT Berkat Cipta Abadi channeled 124,800,000 IDR worth of funding to 101 kids of hamlet chief families in nearby areas. The awardees come from all school levels, and include those whose fathers have passed away.
But instead of holding a special ceremony, the company took their time to approach each child in their villages or homes and personally gave the money. Distribution was rolled out in phases on 21-26 November 2022.
