MERAUKE, June 15, 2022 – As a form of concern for the people in the remote area of Papua, PT Dongin Prabhawa (DP) once again distributed assistance in the form of livestock and fruit tree seedlings to the people of Baru Yahlak Village and Beabe Village, Ngguti District, Merauke, Papua.
Papuans in general still rely on hunting and picking vegetables or fruits from the forest to meet their daily food needs. Through the help from the Corporate Social Contribution Program (CSC) of PT DP, it is expected to be able to lift the economy and support the preservation of the environment in the villages in the interior of Papua.
It is expected that in the future, if the fruit tree seedlings are well managed, they will be able to produce fruits that have selling value. At least, it can be consumed alone by the local community, so it will be able to increase the intake of nutrients that are beneficial to the body.
While the purpose of the delivery of duck livestock is to be able to improve the community’s economic center, independent business development and environmental preservation can help improve the welfare of the community around the company area.
The assistance was provided in the form of duck livestock and fruit tree seedlings consisting of various types of fruit such as durian, oranges, rambutan, and soursop. This assistance was distributed to the people in Beabe Village and Baru Yahlak Village.
“As a community representative, I would like to thank the company for the assistance provided which has made our village more prosperous,” the expression of gratitude from the community was conveyed by Mr. Charles as the chief of Yaimahe Clan in Baru Yahlak Village.
Meanwhile, Benny Panjaitan as ISPO Manager at PT Dongin Prabhawa conveyed the message that the assistance is well managed by the community. “Our hope is from the company that these fruit trees can be well cared for, so that later they will be useful not only for consumption but also for economic value,” he said.
