BOVEN DIGOEL – Tunas Sawa Erma (TSE) Group’s Asiki Clinic worked with the Merauke branch of Indonesian Red Cross on another blood drive; this time held at Asiki Subvillage, Jair District, Boven Digoel Regency.
Hundreds of people — TSE Group employees, military officers, and local residents — queued in droves from nine in the morning that Saturday (9/13), with the Red Cross and Asiki Clinic team guiding them through registration, health screening, and blood collection.
“I think we all know that behind hospital walls, inside operating and emergency rooms, there are people who rely on our donations. A drop of our blood can bring a lifetime of hope for them. Every bag filled today will help those in need of blood supply and save their future,” said TSE Group’s general manager Jemmy Yohanes Senduk in his greetings.
‘Berikan Darah, Berikan Harapan, Selamatkan Nyawa’ (Donate, Bring Hope, Save Lives) teemed with excitement, showing how the spirit of teamwork remains alive in Inner Papua.
“I’m glad we have these kinds of events here…. they’re definitely an opportunity for us to share with others. [I feel that] since my blood’s healthy, why not give it to someone who needs it?” Yohanes, a participant, said with a smile.
The Red Cross and Asiki Clinic team managed to secure hundreds of blood bags, which, according to Asiki Clinic’s manager, Dr. Firman Jayawijaya, “represent hope for struggling, transfusion-needing patients”. This event demonstrates that even in remote areas, humanity and compassion thrive.

“We aimed for less than a hundred, but there was so much interest that the number of bags we ended up collecting exceeded our expectations. [For us,] it’s a testament of strong awareness [among rural Papuans] on [the importance] of blood donation,” he added.
The blood drive is part of Asiki Clinic and Asiki FM (TSE Group’s community radio station)’s anniversary celebration, held to benefit the needy over the long term. (PR)
