SOUTH HALMAHERA – In the days leading up to 2023 Christmas, PT Gelora Mandiri Membangun (GMM) donated diesel generator fuel to local churches under a Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) program. This gift will provide lighting during Christmas Eve services.
The handover ceremony took place Wednesday (12/20), where the fuel was delivered to four nearby villages, starting from Yamli, Sekely, Yomen, to Jibubu, where there are eight churches.
“We’d like to thank the company for the basic food packages and fuel. May GMM continue to grow and bring US benefits,” said Yamli’s village government section head Yonias Kadari.
The donation is enough to light the buildings, Kadari added. There is no electricity in this coastal village, making diesel fuel crucial to power the generators, Yamli's temporary electricity source.
“This year (2023), there are slight changes [to our donation program] where we add diesel to help light the churches on Christmas Eve. I hope it will be useful for this Christmas celebration,” said PT GMM representative Mahdi M. Nur at the event.
Along with diesel were basic food kits containing rice, sugar, instant noodles, tea, and coffee. These were distributed directly to beneficiary villages.
