SOUTH HALMAHERA – PT Gelora Mandiri Membangun (GMM) is supporting the education of local communities by providing scholarships to 22 university students from small villages across its operational area.
The awarding ceremony was on Thursday (9/10/2026), attended by GMM’s Director Jibae Park and General Affairs Manager Byungjun Lim, the Head of South Halmahera’s Department of Education Siti Khodijah, as well as leaders from beneficiary villages and districts.
GMM Director Jibae Park said education is one of the best investments people can make in their future. That’s why the company is committed to supporting youth education.
“To our beneficiaries, [I hope you can] view this scholarship as a mark of trust and a source of motivation to keep learning, developing your skills, and achieving success. Don’t stop at what you have accomplished today, but continue preparing yourselves to make bigger impacts.”
Meanwhile, the Head of South Halmahera’s Department of Education Siti Khodijah expressed her praise. For her, support for education means a lot to students, in particular collegegoers.

“We’re deeply grateful for this CSR initiative, as since last year, we can no longer provide college scholarships due to efficiency measures. And now, GMM is helping us to cover that.”
Siti hoped to maintain open communication with GMM as they deliver educational CSR programs. Public-private synergy is needed to bring greater benefits.
GMM believes that a company exists not only to conduct business, but also to help and grow with local communities. GMM is fulfilling this role through its Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) and community empowerment programs, including those focused on education.
This year, GMM assisted students from the villages of Awis, Gane Dalam (Inner Gane), Jibubu, Kurunga, Sekely, Yamli, and Yomen. This move aimed to ease financial stress throughout their studies and drive greater achievement.
“We hope programs like this will remain available in the years to come. We also promise to make the best possible use of these scholarships and not waste this opportunity,” said Rasdin Baharudin, a scholarship recipient from Kurunga Village.
As Rasdin said, the value of a scholarship lies beyond its amount — it’s also in the opportunities it creates. It’s in the opportunities for the 22 students to continue learning, finish their studies, and eventually bring what they learned to their hometowns.
GMM expects its support not to stop at financial aid. Instead, it should be a part of the students’ journey of growth, education, and contribution to society. (PR)
