SOUTH HALMAHERA – PT Gelora Mandiri Membangun (GMM) organized a cleanup at Harun Beach in South Halmahera Regency, North Maluku, as part of a commitment to coastal hygiene and sustainability. The activity on Saturday (8/15/2026) was a collaborative effort between GMM employees and the Harun Beach community.

Together, they collected trash along the shoreline and sorted it for disposal or further use. This action can reduce the risk of pollution while keeping the area clean.

Beyond cleaning the beach, this initiative aimed to promote greater community participation in maintaining environmental hygiene. GMM hopes it will encourage coastal protection and proper waste disposal.

Byungjun Lim, the company’s management representative, said cleanliness is everyone’s responsibility.

“We don’t want this event to be a one-off thing. We want to push everyone to [take action,] safeguard the environment through sustainable ways.”

By focusing on ecosystem protection, GMM strives to cultivate positive relationships with its immediate communities. The company continues to roll out and champion impactful, awareness-raising initiatives.

This cleanup is hoped to keep local coastal areas healthy and free of litter. Participants are also expected to make regular environmental upkeep a habit. (PR)
