TRIBUN-PAPUA.COM, MERAUKE – That morning on October 15 was unlike any other morning in Selil Subvillage (Merauke Regency), when people would have flocked to farms and docks to work. A long line of residents was seen heading up to a makeshift camp at the subvillage hall, where the Berkat Cipta Abadi Clinic team was holding a free screening.
This event was a Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) initiative that connected local communities to no-cost healthcare services and health education.
From toddlers to elders, everyone patiently waited for their turn of examination.
“[This service] is a testament of our support for Papuan communities. By doing this, we hope to prevent diseases from occurring and increase health awareness among the locals,” said Clinic member dr. Rizal Irsan to Tribun-Papua.com, Thursday (10/23).
As they checked for symptoms and other conditions, dr. Rizal and his team encouraged good hygiene and the importance of meeting nutritional and exercise needs.
Selil leader Alfons Renggam later told the PR team how valuable this event was for his people. “The puskesmas (state-owned health center) team comes here only once a month, so we can’t always treat conditions like breathing difficulties, stomachaches, and itching as they come. [But] today’s visit from the company doctors is helping us do that.”
Free health services are part of Berkat Cipta Abadi’s ongoing health outreach programs, which serve hard-to-access subvillages around the company site.
Berkat Cipta Abadi (BCA) is a subsidiary of Tunas Sawa Erma Group, a South Papua-based oil palm management company. Tunas Sawa Erma Group is dedicated to enhancing community health and welfare by ensuring basic healthcare is accessible to those in need. (*)
