MERAUKE – A two-hour overland journey through challenging forest terrain did not dampen the resolve of the PT Dongin Prabhawa (DP) team to visit Salamepe Village in Ngguti District, Merauke Regency.
Through its Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) program, PT DP engaged with the community to share vital knowledge on environmental conservation. This initiative forms part of the company’s broader commitment to enhancing local community awareness regarding the preservation of their surrounding natural habitat.
The awareness session, focused on the conservation and protection of native flora and fauna, was delivered directly by the company’s Indonesia Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) team. During the session, the ISPO team educated and invited community members to collaboratively safeguard biodiversity, including the endemic animals and plant species found within the Papuan forests. The outreach actively engaged both adult residents and the youth of Salamepe Village.
Imam Purwono, Manager along with the ISPO Team at PT DP, explained that environmental preservation education must be continuously reinforced due to ongoing instances of local hunting targeting endemic species.
“Biodiversity is a precious natural asset that requires our collective stewardship. Therefore, we consistently remind the community to protect and preserve natural ecosystems to prevent species extinction,” stated Imam during an interview in August 2026.

Alongside the environmental outreach, PT Dongin Prabhawa organized a free healthcare program for the residents of Salamepe Village. “We deeply value and appreciate the company’s efforts to support our community through these diverse social initiatives,” said Zein Hairu, a village representative.
The medical team from PT DP’s clinic conducted comprehensive health screenings, including blood pressure, blood glucose, and cholesterol checks, alongside medical consultations, treatment, and the free distribution of medicines and vitamins.
During the consultations, the medical team identified several prevalent conditions among residents, including influenza, fever, cough, malaria, and pediatric skin ailments. As these conditions are often linked to unhygienic lifestyle habits, the medical staff simultaneously conducted educational sessions on Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS).
To ensure comprehensive community care, the initiative also extended to health evaluations for children and infants, alongside Posyandu (integrated healthcare services) activities in the village. Through these efforts, PT DP aims to enhance local access to medical services while further strengthening relationships with communities in its operational vicinity. (PR)
