SOUTH PAPUA – Tunas Sawa Erma (TSE) Group subsidiary PT Dongin Prabhawa (DP) has once again asserted its commitment to ensuring better community health and environmental sustainability in Inner Papua through free health services and wildlife conservation campaign held Friday (10/24) at Salamepe Subvillage in Ngguti District, Merauke Regency, South Papua Province.

From DP’s location, Salamepe is two hours away by land, accessible only by a jagged path cutting through the jungle. Yet, this challenging course was no match for the company team, who were highly excited to meet the villagers.

At the health camp, DP Clinic members provided extensive medical check-up, health consultation, and vitamins and drugs for free. The check-up featured blood pressure, glucose, and lipid profile tests.

Diagnosis results showed a number of diseases affecting the Salamepes, such as flu, fever, cough, malaria, and skin conditions (found in children). All of them were brought by unhealthy lifestyles.

“We are grateful and happy to see the enthusiasm from our people, who have gathered here today for the free check-up and treatment. Thanks to this activity, we no longer have to take long trips to the puskesmas (public health center). I hope this [free health service] program strengthens our good bond with the company and brings long-term health benefits for our community,” said Salamepe village government member Hirun Kaimu.

An awareness session also took place to encourage participation in nature protection efforts. This session involved installing a signpost that would remind residents of safeguarding local wildlife and preventing protected species from going extinct.

That Friday ended with laughter and fun as local children took part in prized games like the sack race and environmental preservation quiz. These activities, while entertaining, reinforce the important message of keeping the natural environment safe and bringing together the company and community in this endeavor for a shared future.

Free health services and wildlife conservation campaign are part of TSE Group’s Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) programs, which reflect the company’s commitment to shoulder the social responsibility to improve Inner Papuans’ welfare and environment. This ongoing program provides a way to deliver impacts that secure the bond between TSE Group and local communities and drive improvements in life quality. [Besse/Humas PPA MGT]
