BOVEN DIGOEL – Papua is as rich in the potential of its young people as it is in its natural wealth. But with the stigma following indigenous workers, Papuan youths need greater support and opportunities to grow and serve their community.

Addressing this untapped “resource”, TSE Group ensures that local talents have the same job opportunities, native or non-native. Approximately 3,589 residents of Asiki and its surrounding subvillages currently work for the company, with 2,464 of them being women.

Maria Polanda is among these ladies, joining late last year. To the PR team, she shared her recruitment experience, which consisted of tests and interviews.

Maria recalled being very careful and patient with the process, and that every applicant was treated equally. Her hard work soon paid off, sending her through the pipeline and into TSE Group’s Public Relations Division.

“Now, I’m in a better place financially and don’t rely on my parents anymore. I feel great,”

She was also part of the audience in a recent competency workshop, which equips TSE Group staff with field-relevant knowledge and skills. A platform for knowledge exchange, these events are typically interactive and include discussions, case study activities, exercises, or simulations.

Topics relevant to Maria’s field, such as conflict resolution, were discussed in this two-way learning session. Fun games were also held at the event aimed at improving interpersonal skills and strengthening bonds.

This workshop was based on the belief that competency development is central to work effectiveness, allowing workers to be more efficient, bring better output, and fully contribute to company goals.

Alongside a fair hiring process, this action lays the groundwork for sustainable company growth. As is known, big businesses are not built solely on capital, but also on the right people and a healthy system. (PR)
