BOVEN DIGOEL – Indonesia’s anniversary is a special moment for its citizens. On this occasion, locals celebrate the country’s independence from Dutch colonial rule by holding fun games and activities throughout the day.
But Tunas Sawa Erma (TSE) Group has a different idea about spending this year’s Independence Day. To prioritize community needs, the company distributed staple food packages for the poverty-stricken. This food assistance was given to Papua’s inland communities near company areas. These packages include 80 sacks of rice, 80 boxes of instant noodles, 45 packets of granulated sugar, 45 packets of coffee, 45 boxes of tea, and 9 jerry cans of cooking oil.
The distribution was done near the anniversary as part of TSE’s Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) program. One of the packages was handed over in a symbolic ceremony to David Igiti (Igiti clan) and Oktavianus Miarop (Miarop clan), who represented customary land rights owners.
After the ceremony, TSE Group’s PR team started giving out the rest of the food kits to nine land right owners in Miri Village, Asiki Village, and Inocin Camp, two clan chiefs in Tanah Merah, and two orphanages/nursing homes in Miri and Tamun Tunas Village.

This activity aims to help financially-challenged communities reduce their spending and create a fairer distribution of some basic food necessities. Thus, it was no surprise when news of the event was welcomed by locals.
“We express our gratitude for the 77th-anniversary assistance. These kits are very meaningful to us,” said Esebius Amote, a clan representative.
