MERAUKE – Tunas Sawa Erma (TSE) Group company PT Berkat Cipta Abadi (BCA) works to maintain river water quality in its operational area in Ulilin District, Merauke Regency, through regular testing.

This effort is focused on tributaries around the plantation, most importantly the rivers Bian and Waterno, as part of a broader environmental and operational sustainability strategy.

“Regular [river] inspections are part of our commitment to protecting environmental quality,” said BCA’s Planning Manager Amiruddin, emphasizing the responsibility aspect. “We focus on Bian River and Waterno River, which are close to our plantation.”

Each occasion involves the company’s ISPO team, palm oil mill laboratory staff, and PR team, in addition to local community members.

Water samples are typically collected from up- and downstream to measure chemical parameters, including pH levels. In this case, inspection personnel will use a pH meter to keep quality up to standard.

The most recent collection took place on Tuesday (3/3/2026), whose results soon showed a pH range of 6.31-6.82, meaning neutral on the pH scale.

“This range of values indicates water is at the ideal condition for freshwater organisms. With consistent measurement results across the upstream and downstream, we can safely say there’s no pollution from company activities.”

BCA’s eco-friendly initiatives underscore its promise of environmental quality monitoring to achieve sustainable and accountable plantation governance in the palm oil sector. (PR)
