MERAUKE – Tolerance should be taught from a young age, since children are our next generation. This belief is what Berkat Cipta Abadi stands on, and underlies the latest Social Education event at Kigorun Public Elementary.
The company worked with nuns from St. Fransiskus Xaverius Catholic Church in Asiki, with Sister Maria Faustina giving an interactive class on religious tolerance. Holding up printed pictures of places of worship, she asked the audience to guess the name of each place. This creative teaching approach is intended to enable better understanding of religious diversity.
“As religious believers, we have to respect our friends whose religion, ethnicity, and race are different from us,” said Sister Maria in front of 55 first-graders on Monday (7/26).
After the session ended, Kigorun students were invited to play a few rounds of picture, number, and letter guessing games for a memory exercise. Those who answered correctly received prizes from the company team.
“Today’s Social Education event was fun. The interactive class allowed our kids to learn and also play. On behalf of the school, we really appreciate the company’s efforts to support the education system in South Papua,” said teacher Oktovin Assi, BEd.
Indonesia is a multicultural country with religious diversity that enriches its cultural heritage and lays the foundation for its national identity. Preserving this diversity requires nurturing tolerance, which ensures mutual respect and acceptance of differences.
Part of Tunas Sawa Erma (TSE) Group, Berkat Cipta Abadi (BCA) not only pledges to participate in the development of Indonesia’s palm oil sector, but also to empower local communities through programs that reinforce a sense of unity.
Through the Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) program, BCA makes consistent efforts to build a lasting and harmonious relationship with local residents. This commitment is demonstrated through initiatives in multiple sectors, including education. Thanks to these initiatives, communities can see the company’s contributions to quality of life and regional development in South Papua. (PR)
