SOUTH HALMAHERA — PT Gelora Mandiri Membangun (GMM) actively contributes to supporting educational sustainability for communities surrounding its operational areas. This commitment was demonstrated through the awarding of scholarships to 22 students from several nearby villages on Thursday (10/09/2026).

One of the scholarship recipients is Rasdin Baharudin, a student from Kurunga Village, South Halmahera Regency. For him, the scholarship from PT Gelora Mandiri Membangun (GMM) represents more than mere educational financial aid; it serves as vital support enabling students to pursue higher education amid the discontinuation of local government scholarship programs.

“On behalf of the scholarship recipients, I express my sincere gratitude to PT GMM for maintaining its commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives in education through these scholarships. This educational assistance is crucial for us, especially given the absence of local government scholarship programs,” he stated.

Rasdin Baharudin is one of four students from Kurunga Village to receive a PT GMM scholarship this year. Along with three other students, these local youths traveled beyond their hometowns and crossed islands to pursue higher education.

Rasdin is currently enrolled at Khairun University in Ternate, located approximately a 10-hour sea journey from his home in Kurunga Village. Navigating such distances is part of the journey for young individuals in villages surrounding the company’s operational areas who aspire to pursue tertiary education. Under these circumstances, Rasdin noted that the financial support from PT GMM is deeply meaningful.

“We are also deeply grateful and satisfied with all the facilities provided by PT GMM to this year’s scholarship recipients. We hope this initiative continues beyond this year into the future. We commit to maximizing this educational support effectively and ensuring it is fully utilized,” Rasdin added.

For Rasdin and his fellow students, the long journey away from home represents just one step toward achieving their aspirations. Through this scholarship program, PT GMM aims to ensure their academic journeys continue seamlessly, ultimately allowing them to bring back valuable knowledge, experience, and contributions to their home regions.
