SOUTH HALMAHERA – PT Gelora Mandiri Membangun (GMM) participated in supporting the education of communities within its operational vicinity by awarding scholarships to 22 university students residing in surrounding small villages.
The scholarship handover ceremony was conducted on Thursday (September 10, 2026) and was attended by the Director of PT GMM, Park Jibae; General Affairs Manager of PT GMM, Byungjun Lim; Head of the South Halmahera Education Agency, Siti Khodijah, M.Ag; as well as village heads and sub-district heads from the beneficiary areas.
During the occasion, the Director of PT GMM, Jibae Park, stated that education is one of the premier investments for the future. Consequently, supporting the education of the younger generation remains a steadfast part of the company’s commitment.
“To the scholarship recipients, let this scholarship serve as both a mandate of trust and a motivation to continuously learn, develop your skills, and achieve excellence. Do not stop at what has been achieved today; instead, continuously prepare yourselves to become a generation capable of delivering even greater benefits,” he remarked.
Appreciation was expressed by the Head of the South Halmahera Education Agency, Siti Khodijah, M.Ag. According to her, support for education holds significant meaning, particularly for students originating from the vicinity of the company.

“We are profoundly grateful for this CSR initiative providing scholarships for university students, considering the South Halmahera Education Agency has ceased providing university scholarships since 2025 due to budget efficiency measures. In this regard, PT GMM is present today to help bridge that gap.”
She expressed hope that open communication between PT GMM and the South Halmahera Education Agency can be continuously fostered, particularly in the implementation of educational CSR programs. Synergy between the corporate sector and the government is essential to ensure that the various implemented programs deliver broader benefits.
For PT GMM, the company’s presence is not solely about conducting business operations, but also about growing together and providing benefits to the communities surrounding its operational areas. This role is executed through various Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) programs and community empowerment initiatives, including those in the education sector.
This year, PT GMM distributed scholarships to 22 university students originating from the villages of Awis, Gane Dalam, Jibubu, Kurunga, Sekely, Yamli, and Yomen. This assistance is expected to help alleviate the students’ financial needs during their education while simultaneously serving as an encouragement to continuously achieve excellence.
“We hope that programs such as this will continue in the forthcoming years. We promise to maximize this educational assistance properly and will not take it for granted,” stated Rasdin Baharudin, one of the educational scholarship recipients from Kurunga Village.
Ultimately, the value of a scholarship lies not merely in the nominal amount of assistance provided, but in the opportunities it creates. It is an opportunity for 22 university students to continue learning, complete their education, and eventually bring their knowledge back to provide benefits to their respective home regions.
