SOUTH HALMAHERA – Gelora Mandiri Membangun (GMM) reaped its first crop of corn Thursday (7/31) from a collaborative farming project with Gane Bersatu Cooperative and West Gane Sectoral Police Force. The project established on May 8, 2025 is part of a nationwide food security program led by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
“Today’s harvest is more than just produce, it’s a symbol of our dedication as GMM to addressing key national issues like food security, rural development, and social partnership,” said GMM executive Dae-Kyung Ham.
These crops were produced in large quantities from 70 kilograms of kernels sown on a four-hectare plot at GMM’s nursery over three months. They’re a testament to the success of cross-sectoral work.
Attending the harvesting ceremony were South Halmahera Food, Agriculture, Marine and Fisheries Service leader Agus Heriawan, Gane Bersatu Cooperative leader Mahdi M. Nur, Plasma Farm team leader Yahya, GMM representatives Jin-hak Lee and Dae-kyung Ham, West Gane Sectoral Police Force leader Second Police Inspector Ruslan Anwar, and members of local communities.

Through the Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) initiative, GMM aims to strengthen existing relationships and teamwork with fellow stakeholders. The palm oil company also seeks to build resilient food systems from its own premises and establish strong ties with local government services and villages.
Sustainability and community empowerment programs like this one allow GMM to demonstrate its commitment to regional development and food independence. (PR)
