MERAUKE, MAY 21, 2022 – The intimate, harmonious, and friendly atmosphere between PT Papua Agro Lestari (PT PAL) and the community is very visible in monthly communication activities and health social services with rural communities in Mutimangge Village, Ulilin District, Merauke Regency, Papua on a bright sunny Saturday (21/5). This activity is part of the Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) program as a realization of the company’s concern for the welfare of the community.

The event was attended by Mr. Park Jibae as the General Manager of Public Relations of PPA MGT and Mr. Seo Min Woo as the General Manager of PT PAL. Blue skies and friendly weather complemented the warm interaction between the community and the the company’s representatives. Mr. Seo Min Woo stated that he really appreciated the warm welcome from the community.

“I am very happy to participate in this activity and I hope that the community will continue to maintain a clean and healthy living,” he said.

The activity began with prayer and continued with health social service through socialization of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) by Dr. Maria Novi from PT PAL Clinic. In the activity, Dr. Maria taught people how to implement personal and environmental hygiene.

PHBS is a movement that aims to improve the quality of life and public health, by implementing clean living behavior such as regular hand washing, teeth brushing and littering prevention.

A proper implementation of PHBS can improve the welfare of the community and the cleanliness of the surrounding environment so that people are not susceptible to disease.

Through this activity, PT PAL established its presence by paying attention to the health of remote communities considering the lack of availability of medicines and health facilities such as clinics that can only be reached with hours of trip.

The activity was followed by a cooking demonstration. This time, the community and the company’s representatives cooked an indigenous sago-based Papuan dish called Papeda. The cooked dish from cooking demonstration were enjoyed together.

“We are grateful to the company for this activity, we hope that in the future we can meet again in the next activity,” said Yeremias Maikuin as the leader of the local community. The gathering was closed with a prayer and a joint photo.
