MERAUKE – PT Dongin Prabhawa once again set up a COVID-19 vaccination center for the people living in remote areas of Papua, to be precise for the residents of Merauke. The latest activity was held in Ngguti District, Merauke, Papua, on Monday (13/12). The company noted that at least almost 3 thousand people have received vaccination through the vaccination activities that have been carried out over the last nine months.

The routine vaccination is being carried out by Dongin Prabhawa since April by collaborating with the local government. In this activity, the company provides the vaccination facility, medical workers, and the necessary equipment.

This month is the last stage of vaccination held by Dongin Prabhawa. The number of participants reached 2,932 people, consisting of children aged 12 years and above, teachers, pregnant women, the elderly, to the public service workers who have not had the chance to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Prior to the activity, the medical team provided education to the community about the importance of vaccination. The community was also encouraged to get their health condition checked first in order to make sure they are in a healthy condition when vaccinated.

One of the medical workers from the Dongin Prabhawa clinic, Angga stressed to the public to remain in compliance with the health protocol even after receiving the second dose of the vaccine. Maintaining the immune system also needs to be done to prevent the COVID-19 virus entering the body easily.

Angga added by saying that the health assistance from Dongin Prabhawa is not limited to the COVID-19 vaccination activity. “As a medical worker, I am obliged to help companies and government programs in vaccination distribution, particularly for people in the remote areas of Papua,” he explained.

In addition to providing COVID-19 vaccination center, the company has contributed in treatments of other diseases. This included providing medicine for patients with Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) that is often found in the remote areas of Papua.

The community expressed their enthusiasm to the company for providing a series of vaccinations since mid-year. One of the residents, Emanuel R. Emar said that the vaccination center provided by Dongin Prabhawa is needed by the residents in Merauke, especially in the Ngguti District.

“We are grateful to Dongin Prabhawa for providing equitable vaccination services in our area as well as counseling on the importance of vaccines for our body, so we do not need to travel far to get the vaccine and prevent COVID-19,” he said.

Dongin Prabhwa is a business unit of Tunas Sawa Erma (TSE) Group, which is specialized in oil palm plantation and processing. During its operation in Papua since 1998, TSE Group often provides social contribution to the community and the environment. Mobile vaccination is one of the supports from TSE Group to help the community so they can run daily activities safely and more productively during the pandemic. Previously, TSE Group also provided mobile vaccination service by visiting every house in Asiki Village, Boven Digoel, Papua, for eight days, from November 22 to December 2, 2021. (PPA Humas S&C)
