BCA noted that the people who received the vaccine from the program held in the vaccination center reached more than 2,400 people. The program has been held since April 2021 by collaborating with Merauke Health Service Office.
The Head for the Acceleration of COVID-19 Handling Team (P2C) BCA Fredrik Hendrik Samkakai conveyed that the implementation of vaccination centers is a part of BCA’s effort to support priority programs from the government in creating herd immunity during the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the other hand, BCA also often carries out counseling and provides education on the importance of vaccination as well as health protocol.
During the implementation of vaccination center, Hendrik mentioned that the community showed a great enthusiasm. “The community, employees, religious leaders, teachers, and customary rights owners want to be able to take part in the vaccination program,” he explained.
Participants of the vaccination consisted of three groups, namely health workers, public servants, and the general public. They were required to go through a screening or initial examination process before receiving the vaccine.
The Head of BCA Clinic, Iva Setia Ningsih explained that the education process carried out consistently by the company has brought out results. The community who previously refused to be vaccinated have now found the courage.
”At the beginning of the program, a lot of people didn’t want to get vaccinated, but after being given education about the importance to maintain immunity during the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of people finally want to get vaccinated,” he described. (pr)
