TSE and Ujungkia residents z up waste in the forest area, Saturday (2/11)

BOVEN DIGOEL – Tunas Sawa Erma Group (TSE) Group through PT TSE provided education on maintaining the existence of forests, flora, and fauna as well as rivers to the residents Ujungkia Village, Boven Digoel, Papua, Saturday (27/11). This activity is a part of the company’s efforts to preserve the environment by involving the surrounding community.

Prior to providing education, TSE invited the residents of Ujungkia Village to do environmental clean-up in the forest and river areas around the village. This activity was mainly aimed to prevent pollution on the river water.

The Director of TSE Bae Hong Ryol expressed the company’s commitment in helping the community of Ujungkia Village, especially in the field of the environment.  “Forests and rivers are the source of livelihood for many animals and plants living in them. Therefore, we will continue to encourage the residents to work together to maintain their sustainability,” he said.

TSE also conveyed the importance of maintaining the cleanliness of the river water by avoiding catching fish using poison, and not defecating carelessly. Two of these activities have great risks to contaminate the river water and spoil the flora and fauna living in it.

The educational activity was carried out while installing a signboard that warn people not to pollute the river water by throwing trash and waste carelessly. “Hopefully, this signboard can be a reminder to all of us to continue to preserve the environment,” said Bae.

On the occasion, the Sustainability Staff of TSE Fabianus also shared educational materials on the types of plants and wild animals that must be protected. Some of which are the black orchid, sarang semut plants, matoa, kumis kucing plants, birds of paradise, to cassowaries.

The environmental campaign received full support from the community of Ujungkia. They were enthusiastic in receiving many new information on the preservation of forests and rivers.

The Clan Chief of Misa, Ambrosius Yasi, hoped that the environmental preservation can continue to be held by TSE. “Hopefully in the future, TSE can help a lot of residents of Ujungkia,” he said.

Campaign activity on environmental preservation is not a new thing for TSE Group. Earlier in October, Tunas Sawa Erma also invited Ujungkia community to clean up waste in the village area. PT Berkat Cipta Abadi (BCA), which is also a part of TSE Group, had a chance to provide socializiation on environmental preservation for the community of Selil Village, Merauke.

This education is part of the social responsibility or Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) program of TSE Group that aims to create an environment that is clean, comfortable, and healthy. In addition to the field of the environment, the CSC activities also include the field of education, health, economy, and infrastructure. (pr)
