BOVEN DIGOEL – Tunas Sawa Erma (TSE) Group has provided educational fund worth Rp 165.6 million to 302 students in Boven Digoel. The assistance, which was officially handed over on Thursday (23/9) is part of TSE’s efforts and contributions in improving the quality of education in remote areas of Papua.
The educational fund support is intended for students at various levels of education, from Elementary School (SD) to university. The assistance is focused for children of hamlet chiefs in Getentiri and Ujung Kia regions, which are TSE’s operational areas.
The scholarship handover is part of Tunas Sawa Erma Group’s Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) that is regularly provided to people living in the company’s surrounding areas. This assistance is given periodically, which is every three months. Previously, in June 2021, TSE also provided educational fund assistance alongside the distribution of masks.
This time, the assistance was given to 302 children of hamlet chiefs, which are students from SD YPPK, SD Negeri Getentiri and Ujungkia, SMP Negeri Getentiri and Ujungkia, SMK Negeri Jair and students from several universities.
Director of TSE Kim Sunman said that the educational fund assistance was provided in order to increase the students’ motivation for studying. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, in which most of the learning activities are carried out at home.
Through this scholarship, Kim hopes that the younger generation in Boven Digoel will have a greater chance in obtaining more knowledge and develop their potential. “That way, they can build Getentiri, Ujung Kia, and Papua to be even better in the future,” he said.
Deputy General Manager of Public Relations at Tunas Sawa Erma Group Daniel Sim Ayomi added by saying that the scholarship donation from TSE is a form of the company’s concern to help ease the burden of parents in paying for their children’s education.
“We hope this assistance can also help improve the welfare of the community,” he said.
TSE Group’s concern towards education can be seen from various social responsibility programs carried out by its business units. The contribution value of TSE Group for this sector was recorded to reach Rp 4.1 billion throughout 2020.
In addition to providing educational fund assistance, TSE Group is also often involved in building educational facilities and infrastructure, purchase of educational supplies, to provision of school transportation facilities. About 42 units of school buildings and 14 school buses have been provided for students in the remote areas of Papua.
The CSC program conducted by TSE Group is part of the company’s concern and contribution for the community’s welfare, while it also serves as a means to strengthen the relationship and connection between both parties. (*)
