BOVEN DIGOEL – Information and communication technology (ICT) is facing massive growth in this increasingly modern era. Breakthroughs in this field have enabled information exchanges that are much faster and easier, with ICT itself becoming a key factor in Indonesia’s education transformation.
Exposure to this technology allows students to gain useful knowledge for skill and competency development. But like a double-edged sword, improper use of ICT may be harmful mentally.
For these reasons, Tunas Sawa Erma Group encouraged SMK Negeri 3 Boven Digoel (Boven Digoel 3 Public Vocational High) students to make wise use of ICT through its Social Education class at the school in Getentiri Subvillage, Jair District (Boven Digoel, South Papua) Wednesday (3/27).
Social Education is how TSE Group takes its duty to move local communities forward. At this event, the company’s PR section head Pratik Prihatin led a “lecture” on ICT.
Leadership lessons were also given to build integrity and leadership behavior. This particular session was conducted by PR deputy general manager Daniel Sim Ayomi.
“We’re grateful for the company’s undivided attention to education and especially to Boven Digoel 3 Public Vocational High. Thanks to TSE Group, we don’t have to feel alone as we’re guiding the kids [in their education journey],” said school principal Revinus Nemokai.
This activity drew applause from the audience. One student, Jeklin, was “feeling the benefits”. “We [students] highly appreciate TSE Group for the Social Education program. We were able to get the knowledge that would help us face the future.”
Social Education is part of the company’s Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) programs, which support the development of “smart generations” in schools around TSE Group’s operational sites. (PR)
