MERAUKE – Phagabo Village learned about the dangers of wildfire, as well as prevention and mitigation measures on Saturday (8/29/2026) from PT Papua Agro Lestari (PAL).

At this monthly communication session, PAL built awareness on endemic species preservation through the donation and planting of 20 tree seedlings, which involved company representatives and villagers.

Joining the event were Phagabo representative and clan leader Richard Koula, TSE Group’s General Manager Daniel Sim Ayomi, PAL’s Manager Hassanudin Pattiroy, and other management representatives from PAL.

Koula, greeting the audience, thanked PAL for its presence and lauded the company for its collaborations with his community.

MERAUKE – Dozens of PT Berkat Cipta Abadi (BCA) employees were recently seen picking up and clearing litter from Kigorun Public Elementary (SDN Kigorun)’s grounds in Ulilin District, South Papua, alongside students in a show of support for the environment.

Kigorun was chosen for the cleanup due to the chance it provided to learn about environmental responsibility. BCA believes schools create a space for young learners to explore not only academic subjects, but also the world — including the ecosystems they live in.

“This initiative demonstrates our support [for the environment]. We want people to help protect their local ecosystems since they were in school, [and so] by involving children in cleanup projects, we can build the mindset that protecting nature is rewarding and enjoyable,” said Dian C. Silitubun, a BCA representative.

Kigorun’s principal, Ahmad Hanifan, said the activity would make a positive impact on his students.

“We hope that by doing this simple action, our kids can grow a greater love for the environment and do more to keep their learning spaces clean and lush,” Ahmad added during an interview on Friday (8/28/2026).

BOVEN DIGOEL – Tunas Sawa Erma (TSE) Group has once again shown support for local vulnerable groups by donating food to St. Yosef Dormitory in Asiki Village, Jair District, Boven Digoel Regency, on Friday (8/21/2026).

Most of the residents are Indigenous, put there by parents who barely make ends meet. But what makes this situation even more heartbreaking is the absence of visits once the children enter the facility, said dormitory supervisor Sister Vianni. Many of these families no longer check up on their young ones or provide for them financially.

“Money constraints make sending kids to dormitories a practical option for households struggling to cover daily needs,” she added.

TSE Group’s basic food kits — assortments of rice, cooking oil, sugar, coffee, instant noodles, milk powder sachets, and other ingredients — will greatly help St. Yosef feed dozens of boarders.

“This food aid is very valuable, especially for the kids here [because] it [will] support their basic needs. We’re grateful that TSE Group has helped relieve our burden,” said Sister Vianni.

The kits were distributed by TSE Group’s General Manager Youngseok Song right at the dormitory. Daniel Sim Ayomi, another TSE Group official, called this initiative proof of the company’s commitment to being present for communities.

BOVEN DIGOEL – Tracking fetal growth and maternal health is vital during pregnancy. Yet, in rural areas, this is impeded by a lack of self-screening tools and services at local health centers. To meet such needs, facilities often rely on third-party initiatives or partnerships with nearby clinics.

The puskesmas in Getentiri Village, Jair District, is no exception. As a primary medical provider managed by the government, it works closely with TSE Group’s Asiki Clinic to deliver effective prenatal care.

From time to time, both teams provide check-ups, consultations, and birth planning, among other posyandu (maternal and child health) services for TSE Group’s immediate and surrounding communities.

Local women and children can access these services every first Thursday of the month. Here, expectant mothers can monitor their baby’s development and early complications in an ultrasound session equipped by TSE Group. They can also get steady supplies of vitamins to help them power through pregnancy and labor.

Now, more and more people are attending the monthly event, thanks to the extensive facilities and well-rounded team of health professionals. Indigenous women especially seek prenatal and delivery help, which increases their chances of survival and those of their babies.

Parents are also using posyandu services to look for stunting risks and dangerous diseases. Children are measured for weight, height, head circumference, and upper-arm circumference to check for signs. They also receive basic vaccinations.

“Posyandu events really help us keep track of development milestones through things like height and weight measurements. These tests allow us parents to stay informed on health and especially nutritional status,” said participant Yosefina Saima. “At these events, we also get supplementary food, which makes the kids happy.”

Each month, there are dozens to hundreds of people at the initiative, whose goal is to oversee the physical and nutritional health of infants and toddlers across TSE Group’s locations, said midwife on duty Feby Samidah.

“We serve around 80–100 children and 40–50 mothers-to-be at each event at Asiki Clinic,” Feby said on Wednesday (8/19/2026). “[One of our activities is] vaccinations for babies and toddlers, which we hope will prevent diseases such as measles, tuberculosis, and polio.”

Since 2005, Asiki Clinic has transcended preventive care, becoming a hub for parenting education, child growth tracking, and prenatal support.

Alongside the Getentiri District’s puskesmas, this facility seeks to bridge local communities and healthcare systems through regular delivery of health services. These include height and weight exams for children, early vaccinations, and pregnancy check-ups, which are necessary measures to ensure maternal and child well-being. (PR)

BOVEN DIGOEL – Tunas Sawa Erma (TSE) Group joined the commemoration of Indonesia’s 81^st anniversary on Monday (8/17/2026). In the spirit of Independence Day, the company held a full-day ceremony that echoed shared efforts to uphold national values.

Its highlight was a flag-raising moment in Asiki Village, Jair District (part of Boven Digoel Regency), where all of the paskibraka (flag-hoisting and lowering team) members were students from nearby schools.

There was also a cultural carnival that displayed the diverse art forms of South Papua. Locals performed traditional dances, showcased traditional attire, and took part in other performances. An invitation to celebrate freedom and diversity, this event also offered a way to express cultural identities.

Despite the festivities, participants remained focused on the issue in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, where a 7.7 magnitude quake recently struck local communities. The tragedy left thousands of homes and public facilities in tatters, and countless residents displaced in emergency shelters.

Honoring Independence Day is more than holding symbolic events, said Jemmy Yohanes Senduk, TSE Group’s general manager. It’s also about paying attention and taking action for people in need. SOUTH HALMAHERA – PT Gelora Mandiri Membangun (GMM) organized a cleanup at Harun Beach in South Halmahera Regency, North Maluku, as part of a commitment to coastal hygiene and sustainability. The activity on Saturday (8/15/2026) was a collaborative effort between GMM employees and the Harun Beach community.

Together, they collected trash along the shoreline and sorted it for disposal or further use. This action can reduce the risk of pollution while keeping the area clean.

The HGU transfer process was carried out by upholding the principles of FPIC (Free, Prior and Informed Consent), facilitated by an independent consultant, AZ Law Office Conflict Resolution Center. The community expressed its consent to the proposed HGU transfer for plasma plantation development. Currently, Inggyash Ghuzi Cooperative holds the HGU certificate following the official issuance of the HGU transfer permit from PT PAL by the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) of the Republic of Indonesia.

Following the issuance of the official decree (SK) and HGU certificate, Inggyash Ghuzi Cooperative will proceed with the development and independent management of the plasma plantation together with its appointed implementation partner, PT Bina Papua Luhurkarya.

MERAUKE – Two TSE Group companies — PT Berkat Cipta Abadi (BCA) and PT Papua Agro Lestari (PAL) — took Independence Day to the next level with fun games and activities at their operational location in Ulilin District, Merauke Regency.

BCA’s celebration was centered at Kigorun Public Elementary (SDN Kigorun) and YPK Harapan Selil Elementary (SD YPK Harapan Selil), with events ranging from cultural performances to competitions like a contemporary-traditional fusion dance contest, a Nusantara-themed fashion show, and a sack race.

These events were met with enthusiasm from students — and, as one Kigorun teacher noted, brought the exciting atmosphere of Independence Day to rural South Papua.

“On behalf of the school, [I’d like to say] we’re really delighted we can take part in this. Thanks to PT BCA, we can feel what people in big cities feel during Independence Day, although we are in rural, remote South Papua. The kids are happy as well,” said Maylda Rosari Sambang at the event on Wednesday (8/12/2026).

Meanwhile, PAL held a game that highlighted the tradition of local indigenous communities: archery. This activity saw participation from indigenous community members and clan members from surrounding areas.

One of the winners said it had special meaning for the locals, as it reintroduced a longstanding practice.

TERNATE – PT Gelora Mandiri Membangun (GMM) has officially transferred the management of its 245.67-hectare plasma land to Gane Bersatu Primary Oil Palm Cooperative (KSU-PPS Gane Bersatu). This handover was marked by a launch of the mandatory community plantation development program on Monday (8/10/2026) at the South Halmahera regent’s office hall.

Participating in the ceremony was South Halmahera’s Vice Regent Helmi Umar Muchsin, who said the plasma land — previously part of GMM’s plantation — had now been entrusted to local farmers for cultivation and harvesting.

“This shows how GMM’s presence in South Halmahera truly improves the lives of immediate communities, not only its own financial performance,” said Helmi.

He hoped for a stronger partnership with the company, cooperative, and people going forward. Good communication and coordination are integral to plasma land management, he said, as it involves authorities from various sectors and is mandated by various regulations.

GMM’s Director, Jibae Park, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to conducting all legal and administrative processes tied to land-use legality in line with the law.

“Today, we have handed over the [land] management responsibilities [to the cooperative],” Park stated. “Onwards, let’s preserve the trust we have in each other to ensure productive, transparent, legally compliant, and impactful operations.”

The mandatory community plantation development program, or FKPM, has been much anticipated since 2016. By managing the plasma land, the 541 members of KSU-PPS Gane Bersatu expect to gain financial benefits, hence improving their lives across the five villages of Gane Dalam, Jibubu, Sekely, Yomen, and Yamli.

Mahdi Mhd Nur, the cooperative’s leader, praised GMM’s commitment. He voiced hopes of increased cooperation, especially with the regency government on land certification and other administrative processes.

This transfer of management thus signifies a key step toward strengthening a multisectoral collaboration aimed at driving sustainable, profitable plantation management. (Antara)
